Niagara-on-the-Lake held its annual Ice Wine Festival closing the main street to accommodate the event. The street festival was open to the public offering samples of icewine and food provided by 22 wineries and 12 culinary partners. Jazz-themed ice sculptures sponsored by local business provided a unique photo opportunity for locals and tourists. During the day, the Sotheby’s International Realty Canada sponsored piano and bench live carving gave attendees the chance to observe the talent whilst strolling through the “village” and enjoying the sound of contemporary jazz.

January 21st, 2010
On Saturday, January 23rd and Sunday, January 24th, Niagara-on-the-Lake Heritage District comes alive with an Icewine and Jazz Celebration! Our wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, restaurants, hotels and merchants have put together events that offer something for all wine lovers!
One of the highlights of the weekend is the live ice wine sculpture demonstrations taking place on Saturday afternoon on the main street. Tying in with the “Jazz” theme, all carvings will be various musical instruments. Sotheby’s International Realty Canada’s Niagara-on-the-Lake office is proud to sponsor a full-size grand piano with bench, all carved exactly to scale. The piano will have a three foot ice pedestal alongside with an 18” X 18” plaque with the Sotheby’s International Realty Canada logo carved on it. The piano, which will be lit from within, will form the backdrop for the Cocktail Competition being held on Queen Street between 9 and 11 pm on Saturday evening. That evening, and all day Sunday, it will be the focus for photo ops for visitors who will be able to sit on the bench and “play” the ice piano.
